I've listed many things in the past but when I recently tried, it told me to set up an account. After doing this it said it needs to authenticate my account by phone.
Why is craigslist asking me to start an account to list items?
This is a new way for craigslist to cut down on spam and scammers. Whether it works or not is still up for discussion, however most likely you are being asked to add an account and verify because you have several listings already online.
