Can I start a 503b Tax deferred account while working part-time and already collecting Social Sec. benefits?

Uhhh... Section 503(b) applies to bankruptcies. There's no such thing as a "503(b) tax deferred account."

And section 403(b) applies to certain educational organizations and non-profits so that wouldn't apply to you either.

You could set up a traditional IRA if you are under age 70.5, but that's probaby about it.

How to open demat account and what is trading account? Why the charges is different from one from another?

Iam intrested in investing in shares but every financial advisor comes with confusing solutions. Iam not intersted in trading with the shares but wants to invest in shares as longterm asset. Advise me please.
How to open demat account and what is trading account? Why the charges is different from one from another?
As you are interested in investing you money in shares you are expected to open both Demat and Trading Account.

Demat Account is opened through a depository participant e.g Share Brokers and Banks.

(ICICI, HDFC, SHAREKHAN, INDIA INFOLINE, KOTAK)

All the above DP's also give your the facility of a Trading Account along with your demat account and their research reports, which will help you to track the stocks for investment perspective.

Check for 5 paisa, they charge Rs 555/- for lifetime trading *** demat account.

Check for Sharekhan, they charge around 350/- p.a. for lifetime trading *** demat account.

Hope this helps.

Are good tailors supposed to take into account the way pants are going to fit you when sitting?

I should start off that I am male -- It seems that all of my dress pants (and some jeans) always feel too tight in the crotch when I sit.

I'm thinking that pants can't have a crotch too big or the pants will look weird...? What are some fashion tips or remedies for this problem?
Are good tailors supposed to take into account the way pants are going to fit you when sitting?
Not wanting to be funny, but how exactly do you sit? I often find that the posture of a person affects the way the clothes fit. Try pulling them down on the legs slightly before you sit down. I know that's a girly thing to do...but it may work.

If not, find yourself a really good tailor. A good tailor is like a good hairdresser...they will make the most of what you have and make you look fabulous. Try looking in the Yellow Pages and ask around...reputation is a good place to start. It is kind of tricky to add fabric..nigh impossible...so I would suggest having a chat with a tailor about what it is you want and then they will most likely say to buy your trousers slightly too big and then they can take them in...it's not cheap, but if it looks better/feels more comfortable clearly worth every penny!

How do I find out my bank account number for the purposes of direct deposit?

The other option you have if you're waiting on checks, is to go to your bank and ask them for something on bank letterhead that states the bank's routing and account numbers. Your employer needs both of those to establish your direct deposit, so that would be the quickest way to do it.

If you already have the Routing Number, then just go into the bank with your ID or License and ask for your Account Number, because you haven't received your checks yet.
How do I find out my bank account number for the purposes of direct deposit?
If you look at one of your checks or one of your preprinted deposit slips, at the bottom will be a string of numbers. The first set of numbers is the ABA number which identifies the bank. The second set of numbers is your account number. The third set of numbers (on your check) would be the check number.
Reply:Call your bank. They will generally ask you several security questions and then give it to you or just go in with ID and ask. Not hard.
Reply:It is on your checks (2nd set of #'s) or contact your bank directly.

What details need to be taken into account when fitting an AC adapter to a device?

The device asks for "DC IN 12V 1A."

Can I plug any AC adapter that reads "Output: 12V 1A" into this device?

I would love to see a link to some site which verifies your answer so I don't fry my electronics. :)
What details need to be taken into account when fitting an AC adapter to a device?
It has to output 12v DC (the DC is important - NOT AC)

As long as it outputs 1A or MORE, any adapter is OK

Ex

12V DC, 2A - OK

12V AC , 1A - NOT OK
Reply:You need to be concerned with polarity (tip positive or tip negative), and make sure it's 12v DC 1A(or more) output, but other than that, you should be ok

How do I get on the administrator account on windows xp if you dont have the name or password for it?
The default Admin account might still be active. It's common for it to be.

At the windows login screen press CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys. A pop up box should appear asking for username and password.

Type in user: Administrator

Password: Keep blank, don't enter anything, just click on the login button.

If that works, then go to control panel -%26gt; users and you can change the password for your main account there.

If not, try this site: http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administra...

What happens when you overdraw your checking account and the accocunt is closed by the bank for inactivity?

This is my first time opening a checking account. My question is what would happen if my account were to have been overdrawn and remained so for many months, and finally the bank decided to close the account because it was inactive? Does the bank still try and send for their money or does the charges just go away? Will it effect me opening another account with a different financial institution?
What happens when you overdraw your checking account and the accocunt is closed by the bank for inactivity?
There are two seperate answers to this question.

One is the bank and the other is the merchants.

If you bounce checks and do not pay the checks and the fees, the bank will close your account. Then they will either go after you for the amount that you owe them in fees or overdrawn checks that they have paid, or hire a collection agency. There could be a possiblity of being sued over it.

For the bounced checks that you wrote to a merchant, if the merchant cannot get paid they will turn it over to your states district attorney.

Then, depending on your state, you can be facing a stiff fine and/or prison time.

Both the bank and the merchants may be listed as negatives on your credit reports for 7 years which will make it difficult to get credit, to get decent rates on credit etc.

Plus, you will be listed on ChexSystems for 5 years and it will be difficult to get another checking account.

So, take very good care of your checking account. Make sure you enter everything in it every day and that you balance it out every month when you get your statement.
Reply:u owe the bank, and if u dont pay it goes into collections.
Reply:It will definitely affect you when trying to open accounts elsewhere....you now have a bad mark on your credit history....

I suggest you make good on the overdraw, plus fees and penalties I am certain the bank assessed. And ask that the bank please report this on your credit.

As for the bank just writing it off, depends on how much it is and how much you are financially worth.

Take care to be more mindful in the future, dear one. Good luck!
Reply:Yes, the bank still wants their money back and this has likely been reported on your credit report. You will not find it too easy to open a future bank account. Only in a dream-world would a debt just "go away" ........... be responsible and own up to this and pay it back; save yourself a mountain of grief!
Reply:You will not be able to get credit or a new account. Everything goes on your credit report and no bank will want you.
Reply:A bank will not close and forget an account that is overdrawn. They will freeze it and can take legal action against you to get their money and it will definately affect your credit rating. Bring the balance back up to $0.00 and then close it.

Is credit card debt considered an open account or a written contract?

I live in the State of Georgia and am being sued over an old credit card that I defaulted on. It has been more than 4 years but less than 6 years since the date of default, so depending on whether credit card debt is considered an open account or a written contract in the State of Georgia, the Statute of Limitations may or may not apply. The Staute of Limitations is 4 years for open accounts and 6 years for written contracts. Does anyone know for certain which type applies for credit card debt in Georgia? The account is with Citibank MasterCard and was opened in the late 80's or early 90's. Thanks.
Is credit card debt considered an open account or a written contract?
Spiff! Man you are starting to disappoint me something terrible!

The definition of a "written" contact is one where all of the payment issues are completely spelled out. The monthly payments, the timeframe, everything.

An "open" or "revolving" credit line does not fall into this catagory because the terms of the agreement change every month. One month you owe $200, and the next you owe $400.....and each month you have a varying amount of payment. You can pay it off, and then run it right back up again....that's why they call it a 'revolving" line of credit.

This is also clearly spelled out in the US UCC codes, and many states specifically label credit card debts as open accounts.

Georgia is one state that specifically labels credit cards as NOT being a written contract. Please refer to the link below.

Once again....poor answers with no source of information cause a lot of damage here on Yahoo. If they don't provide you with a source for further examination it's best not to believe it.
Reply:it's a written contract, that's why you sign a rather lengthy terms %26amp; conditions declaration when you take out the credit card - read the small print
Reply:Sorry man, but it's a written contract.

Remember that long piece of paper you signed that said terms and conditions?

How much money is in your checking account right now?

I know this is a nosy question, and NO I am not interested in stealing it from you people even if I knew how, which I don't. I am just curious how high you let the balance get before you transfer some to savings, assuming of course that you have a savings account. Please feel free to round to the nearest even sum. Mine is about $2,500 dollars at the moment but I have many bills to pay soon.
How much money is in your checking account right now?
i got about 30k. i'd strut around acting like Thornton Mellon, except i have huge expenses that have to be paid such as house repairs my HOA is bitching about, the gas-saving car i "gave" my girlfriend for xmas but still haven't bought, and paying for a vacation coming up in august. oh there is also solarizing my house -- that alone is at least 20k. fuggit
Reply:Totally depends on your expenditure. Its ok to have about 10k in checking and put rest in savings. When savings reaches about 100k+, take some out and put other places (its not really a good investment to put more than 100k in savings)
Reply:I just gave my last $1 to the 700 Club.
Reply:I have an Orange savings account for which is extracted from my checking account - I tell them how much to extract and how often - once a month, twice a month, etc.

Actually, I just opened a basic account with ETrade with a balance of $200. Give them a call and they can explain the basic account differences to you. Just be aware that with low account balances, the trade commissions are rather high (I'm paying $9.99 per trade right now). Good luck!

Reply:* How to Delete a Yahoo! Answers (And E-mail) Account *

Hi

I only know of one way. Get your account suspended. Suspending means your away from a period of time, but on Y!A you are deleted, forever. Say mean things, inappropriate things, chat, breaking anything and everything in the Terms of Service and Community Guide Lines, and you will be removed, and no one will be able to access your account because it does not exist.

Now, to erase your E-MAIL ADDRESS, do not sign in or log in for three or four weeks. After this period of time, Yahoo! thinks you have abandoned it and you are not using it, so they are going to clear their database and erase it, so you can't log in, no body can e-mail you, chat with you, and everything that is associated with your account will not be recieved.

But if you don't allow anyone to add you as a Contact and make your Q%26amp;A Private to the Public, then no one can see anything in your profile, other than your information (which is located under your avatar in your profile) and how many Best Answers and how many Others you have on the side bar on the right side of the screen.

You can make your Q%26amp;A Private and edit it so no one can add you as a Contact is to edit your information. You can make your Q%26amp;A Private by:

My Profile %26gt; Edit My Info %26gt; Yahoo! Answers Network %26gt; On my public profile, hide my Q%26amp;A from people who are not my Contacts (check this) %26gt; On my public profile, only show my Answers Network to my Contacts (also check this %26gt; Preview %26gt; OK

To allow no one to add you as a Contact, do this:

My Profile %26gt; Edit My Info %26gt; Yahoo! Answers Network %26gt; Allow other Answers users to be my fan. ( do NOT check this) %26gt; Preview %26gt; OK

To delete your avatar:

My Profile %26gt; Edit My Information %26gt; Picture %26gt; No Picture (it's a gray head) %26gt; Preview %26gt; OK

To delete all of your Fans/Contacts:

My Profile %26gt; My Network %26gt; Remove

To change your name:

My Profile %26gt; Edit My Info %26gt; Nickname %26gt; Choose what you want %26gt; Preview %26gt; OK

All of these steps above ( ^ ) will help you erase everything, your account, all of your information, your e-mail, basically everything that exists with your Yahoo! Account. But I gave you ways so you don't have to go all out and delete your e-mail, that's your choice.
Reply:To delete your Yahoo account click this link. https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_use...

Your Yahoo account comes as a package and you can only delete the whole package that includes the following:

* Yahoo! Answers. (Your questions and answers will remain).

* Flickr.

* Yahoo! Mail.

* Yahoo! Notepad.

* My Yahoo!.

* Any other Yahoo! program that needs your Yahoo ID and password.

Dicko is right. I am astonished. I did not think he listened to me. Whiteys generally do not. Perhaps I should be grateful.
Reply:I opened mine a year ago, but only used it for the first time 15 hours ago. I got an answer deleted roughly an hour later.

Personally, I still stick to my assertion that the best way for a parent to stop their 14 year old daughter from hitting them is to give them a good dicking, but Yahoo! disagrees.

Technically you beat me (as I technically have had the account for a year), but I claim a moral victory.
Reply:I hold the record...

I opened (and this is the only time I did it) - an account called Eugene Terreblanche (as a joke to counteract all the BOB MUGABE'S that were showing up) on a Saturday night and I had the account deleted by Monday afternoon...

To add - I posted answers (all three of them) no different to what I usually do - but clearly the sight of ET upsets some users....

Now if I created an account called "Julius Malema" or any other Black person who HATES WHITES - do you think it would have been deleted as quickly?
Reply:Sorry, Cat - Bob's newest incarnation got three including two deleted questions within about fifteen hours! I'm very proud of him! But you are trying hard, and with practice, I hope you will beat him easily!

Cakes, that's also right. I think that was Bob 3. I've lost count!

How much does closing a credit card account accutually hurt your credit?

My husband has a Sears card that has a horrible APR. The balance was recently paid off, but with this rate, we will always owe something on it. (Like a couple bucks.) We'd rather close the account than keep paying a couples buck every month on a card he will never use again.

People have told me closing accounts hurts your credit. But how bad? And I'd really rather close it than deal with the hassle of it.

Just trying to make an informed decision. Thanks.
How much does closing a credit card account accutually hurt your credit?
This is what makes up your score:

1. Payment history- 35%

2. Total debt owed to available credit ratio-30%

3. Length of time establishing credit-15%

4. Types of credit established-10%

5. Inquiries and New accounts-10%

With that said, closing an account affects factors 1-4. It reduces the active payment history on your open accounts, decreases the available credit, giving the appearance that you're borrowing more than your capable of borrowing, it also shortens the average age of accounts, which if this card's been open a long time, it gives the appearance that you're inexperienced with credit.

My suggestion would be to:

A. Keep the card open after it's paid down and only make SMALL purchases($20/max) and pay it off on time every month. This way, the account is showing activity which builds credit WITHOUT getting charged boatloads of interest in the process.

or...

B. Open another CC with the same limit as the Sears Card or increase the limit on another one of his credit cards to match the credit limit that he will lose if he did close the account. Even though it would shorten the average age of accounts and payment history, at least he can maintain his utilization ratio(debt to avail credit).

Hope this helps

Good luck!
Reply:Just keep the card open and pay off the balance in full every month. Information on the Sears cc: http://www.creditcardassociate... Report Abuse

Reply:http://www.searscardnow.info Report Abuse

Reply:Unless your card has some type of annual fee, which I've never heard of with a Sears card, you can owe a couple bucks every month. Regardless of the APR, if your balance is $0, then there can be no interest.

If you do close your card, it won't make your credit score drop 100 points, but it does limit your available funds.
Reply:If you are only paying a couple bucks a month, I don't think it's an annual fee. You are paying on the balance on your card from the previous month. The only way to really stop it would be to send in a few extra dollars to ensure there is no balance.

Check to make certain you are not paying any other fees. If so then by all means cancel the card.

But as your research has shown, you will experience a small drop. I can't say for certain without looking at your whole picture. For example if you have several cards, canceling one will not effect it much. But if that is your only card you are wiping your your entire credit history, and taking your score with it.

If possible do not cancel the card. If you do, just sit tight for about 6 months and your score should restore itself. As long as you are not planning any major purchases within that time it won't matter.

How do I transfer money from one account to another?

I would prefer to do it online. I need to transfer money from my tcf account to my chase account, but I don't know how.
How do I transfer money from one account to another?
Set up an online account with both, if you don't already have one. All you need to do is set up an automatic payment from TCF to Chase, from one site or the other. You will need your account information for both, inluding routing number if the TCF account is a checking account.

Or simply call Chase and ask to make a payment over the phone. Either way it could take up to 3-5 days for it to go through. And they might charge you to do it over the phone, but it doesn't hurt to ask!
Reply:I do not know what a tcf account is but if you have online banking with both places you can. If not, I would physically close one account and send it snail mail or in person to the other.

Phone your irish bank and ask them to set up your online banking facility. Then go online and follow the relevant fund transfering options.

If its northern Ireland (Pound - Pound) then it would be chaps transfer which again has a fee. You could also send it by standing order/ one off payment if you are in Northern Ireland which is free.

ICICI Supersave has the best rate today. They are covered by the FSCS but they are an Indian Bank, and if the Indian government offer a higher protection, they must pull out of the British protection. This is a worry as any guarantee is only as strong as the government that gives it.

What can people do with my bank account details?

Hi,

I would like to offer someone I know to send some money to my bank account. However I don't want to risk them being able to access my account. I'm just wondering if I send them my sort code and account number etc. what can they do?

People never give their details out over the phone, there must be a reason?
What can people do with my bank account details?
With those two things they can withdrawl money from your account electronically. You should never give that info out ever. If someone wants to wire money to your checking account, have their bank call and get the required information so they can never see it.

An even better option is western union. It costs the same as a wire transfer and it is much safer for you.
Reply:Open up a Paypal account, have it linked to your bank account and have them send the money through that way. I've been using Paypal for years and have never had issues with security sending or receiving funds.

What is the cause for tax payable account?

What might be the reasons for the tax payable account? Why don't the company pay the tax right away but have to wait for some time and pay it in the future? Deferred tax asset result from an excess of tax payable over income tax expense. Does it mean the company paid tax more than it should have paid? I just got a bit confused of it. How could this siutation happen in real life? Could you explain it to me by giving the example? Thank you very much.
What is the cause for tax payable account?
The IRS dictates how and when businesses turn in the tax money they collect from the employees' paychecks. Depending on how much you collect, you are either a weekly, semimonthly, monthly or quarterly depositer. Most are monthly. In order to make the IRS bookkeeping easier, they would rather you pay one lump sum each month instead of every time you write a paycheck. Especially since if you made a mistake and had to rewrite a check you would have to change the deposit. it is much easier to just make one monthly deposit. Deferred tax asset resulting from an excess of payable over expense means you paid too much taxes in, but rather than receiving a refund you just get credit toward the next payment. it happens on a fairly regular basis. each business has it happen at least once in their life.

How is the interest of a savings account calculated?

I am going to open a saving account soon, and I really don't understand the whole interest thing. The bank offers and 0.5% interest rate. It is compounded daily. Let's say I put $1000 in the account tomorrow. When will I actually see the interest in my account, and how much would it be. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
How is the interest of a savings account calculated?
The interest will be computed on a daily basis, and you'll earn interest on the previous day's interest (i.e. "compounded daily"). The bank will credit your account the interest on a monthly basis. The 0.5% interest rate is an annual number, so you will have to calculate the amount for a daily basis. Here's the quick math for your daily interest on $1000:

Day1: 1000 * 0.005 / 365 = 0.0137

Day2: (1000 + Day1) * 0.005 / 365 = 0.0137

In general terms, the formula for calculating interest for "n" days on your $1000 at 0.5% is:

n days of interest = 1000 * (((1 + 0.005 / 365) ^ n) - 1)

*Response to Taranto (below):

Regarding the use of 360 or 365 for computing interest, check with your bank on how they do the math. The "Actual/360" accrual that Taranto mentions is used to compute interest accruals on money market rates. However, the following is an excerpt from JPMorgan Chase's Web site on compounding:

"Banks and financial institutions routinely use compounding to pay you a higher interest rate. For example, a bank may be offering a CD that pays interest at 10%. If the bank does not compound interest, you will receive 10 percent of your investment as interest income at the end of a year. But if the bank compounds interest every three months (quarterly compounding), you will earn an interest rate of 10.38%. If the bank compounds interest monthly, you will earn 10.47%. And if it compounds daily, you will earn 10.52%."

http://partners.leadfusion.com/tools/cha...

In the daily compounding example, if you use 360 you get 10.67%, and if you use 365 you get 10.52% (both rounded to 0.01%).
Reply:The other folks have answered how the interest is calculated. I would offer another bit of advice. You should research and open a high-yield savings account. These accounts pay anywhere from 4-5% interest on deposited money. A couple of examples are HSBCDirect, INGDirect, EmigrantDirect.

With these internet banks, you open a savings account that's linked to your existing checking account (you can stick with your regular bank for checking so you don't have to change checks, debit cards, etc). You can transfer funds back and forth between you're regular bank and your high-yield savings account.

Your $1000 would get you approximately $4.17 per month compared to the $.41 another poster wrote....much better return on your money.
Reply:None of the calculations above are exactly right.

It is true that banks often deposit the interest monthly -- but it is calculated using daily balances. The formula is a little odd -- sometimes referred to as Actual/360 accrual. The money is compounded using actual days -- but the interest rate used is the yearly rate divided by 360 -- not 365.

To find your future value after compounding, use the following formula:

F = A * (1+R/360)^N

F = future value

A = amount invested

R = yearly rate

N = actual number of days invested.
Reply:The bank will calculate and deposit your interest once a month. The bank will determine your average balance for the month, and then multiply it by .5%, and then divide by 12 (for 12 months; you make .5% a year total). I assume that this is an interest-bearing checking account. A saving account should pay considerably more, at least 1 or 2%.

Consider that a paypal account pays over 5%, with no fees.
Reply:It's usually deposited monthly. The interest in the example you describe would be approximately $0.41 monthly.
Reply:usually payed monthly, the more you have the more interest you will get so your account will keep growing if you don't spend too much and make sure you put some in every now and then.

What does it mean when a youtube account is suspended?

What does it mean when a youtube account is suspended?
That means the youtube team has suspended the user's account for violating the terms and conditions of the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Once this happens, the suspension is permanent and they will never be able to get their account back and create new ones. There is no appeal process at all, period.

I am planning to quit my job, sell all my belongings, end the lease on my apertment, take my savings and travel around for a year. I need to maintain cirtain things while I am on the road like a bank account and my investments, I can do all the administrative stuff online but I think they want me to have an address. Where do I have mail go for a whole year and what about taxes on investments ?
What do I do about my bank account and investments while I backpack around the world ?
Talk to a VERY responsible family member. One that doesn't plan on moving soon and offer to pay them a fee to assist you while you're out of town. If their responsible, they'll probably do it for free.

Or, hire a bookkeeper... they generally work for $13-$16/hour and you can have your mail go there. There's always a local bookkeeper (or two) in every town or city or ask a local CPA.

Last resort, pay mailboxes etc, or the UPS Store to hold your mail for a year!!

Good luck!

What happens if one bank closes your account but you have 10 others?

Lets say one bank closes your account due to overdraft that hasn't been paid and they report you to the credit bureau that regulates banks which means you can't open another account.

But you still have 10 other bank accounts with other banks.... do they get closed too?

What happens if one bank closes your account but you have 10 others?
You can be arrested for over drafting and leaving, a bank account.

Most banks don't mess around with this.

If arrested, they will get restitution and court costs, and so will the court.

Just pay it, then close it.

How do you open a building society account for a small club?
The two of you, plus proof of ID and addresses, plus some kind of paperwork to show that the club exists. The Nationwide has a special account for this purpose.
Reply:Just contact the building society - they will explain if there are any special qualifications needed for their particular society. Take proof of identity at least 2 pieces for each person with authority over the account - driving licence, utilities, bill(s), passport. That may be all that is required. If you have a letterhead of the club that would also be useful. But basically you won't know until youhave spoken to them.

Are tenants required to give out bank account information during the application process?

I am in the process of filling out a rental application for a home and it requests bank account # and information as a part of the application. Do they have the right to ask for this? Can it be denied by me? They say they need to check if their are sufficient funds, however I am a student and will be receiving money from family and loans. Do they have the right to turn me away as a result of not giving out such important information?
Are tenants required to give out bank account information during the application process?
Yes, that is very common and legal. You can refuse to give it, however don't plan on getting the apartment. Landlords, just like credit companies, want to make sure your financially stable before they let you onto their properties.
Reply:I was once in your situation. Don't worry, everything will work out for you =)

A year ago I found this organization that gives people up to $1500 in renter or mortagage assistance! They operate in most US cities, I highly suggest you try to get some of this money.

http://www.house-mortgage-rent-help.org

Good Luck!
Reply:The applications that I ask my prospective tenants to fill out ask for that information. It's very legal and is a good way for a landlord to know if you have the funds to rent the apartment or house your looking at. You don't have to give the information, but the landlord doesn't have to rent to you if you don't
Reply:Yes, they can. However you can ask if it is necessary.
Reply:You don't have to give every bit of information requested. Most landlords use standard forms, and may not want or need every single piece of information. However if you don't give enough to check your credit, your application is consigned to bottom of pile. I would NOT give bank account #s. And yes, they can legally deny you an apartment for many reasons, including lack of adequate income, not completing application form, bad attitude, sense of entitlement, etc.
Reply:I've never been asked for bank info. never. And since I've been with my fiance we've moved, in multiple states, 5 times. I'd be suspicious and talk to you local authorities, normally there is a department that will let you know about how legit a rental place is and whether or not they've had complaints.
Reply:I think something smells funny. My friend is a leasing agent and she even said that something is probably wrong. I would call the company back and tell them that you are uncomfortable giving that information and see what they say.
Reply:They can decline your app for any reason. However, I would not provide that info.
Reply:Creeps ...

I would not give them that on just an application. It is none of their business at this point.

However, on principle, ask if CASH is acceptable as your first/last/security and I'll bet that will suit them fine.

Of course, if you pay by personal check later on, they will have your bank account # from the check. Who cares - what can they do with that?

How does a creditor find your bank account?

There was a levy placed on my current bank account by a bill collecting agency(credit-card debt) and I am stil owing. My dilienma is that I was laid off from my job and I cannot afford to pay right now. I want to file my taxes and have the funds go directly to my bank account. If I do open a new bank account and e-file, will the creditor be able to find my new account and place a levy on it? I would also like to know how they find it (bank account), and how long it usually takes.

Thanks in advance!
How does a creditor find your bank account?
have your refund sent in the form of a check.

They can find your account if they have the imformation.

Sorry been there too. hang strong it will get better.

check out dave ramsey site helped me a lot God bless
Reply:You missed your day in court, is how they got your bank information. They sued you because the amount of debt you were in was significant enough to warrent it, you didn't show up, they won. If you close your current account, you're opening up a whole other can of worms. There's also a good chance you won't be able to open up another account until you get a letter from the collection agency that the debt has been paid. Then they can garnish your wages when you get another job, because you've already tried to give them the slip. Your name, social security number and a court order is all they need to access your bank account, any present or future accounts.
Reply:they probably sued you and you did not even know it. They can only get to your bank account if they get a judgement against you. In that case don't worry too much about a tax return because they will take it from you anyway.
Reply:It takes them about 30 days to find any account you may have by your social secutity number.
Reply:yes they will,,your taxes will be held as they have a lien on you,,so if you have taxes coming back you will never see it,,talk to the people you owe the money,,you should be able to work out a deal
Reply:You should have your refund returned as a check then cash it at your bank, hasslesome but safest best from credit card collections, or just let them take the money and be done with the debt than duck them the whole year.
Reply:Well Kay sadly enough it is very easy for a creditor to find your accounts if they have a judgement or lagitiamte claim against you. Would be difficult to set up a new account without them being notified if you already have a lean against an exsisting account. Best solution is to get some financial advise on how you can pay off your debt and become a valuble part of society.
Reply:everything we do in life is tracked by our SS#. This is how they learned of your bank account and if your open another one, they will learn of it. It's unfortunate but if you have a refund due to you, you won't get it. Because of the levy, all monies you get will automatically go towards the repayment. the only way they cannot track you if you decide to get a job, is by cash payments. this is why i tell my clients that are on welfare- report all earnings; don't think about not reporting one or the other; we will find out.

good luck!

the 19th was a Federal Holiday, no bank employees worked on the 19th. It should show sometime today
Reply:Within 2 weeks of e-filing. Wait until Friday, if not available contact your accountant or tax office.
Reply:We also had direct deposit scheduled on 2/16, but our refund was posted to our account on that Friday morning---there was no delay like you are experiancing. I sure hope your money shows up in the morning posted to your account. I would wait and check again around 6AM because I did check right after midnight and the funds were not there yet....they showed up bright and early when I got up to get my kids off to school. So hang in there and hopefully you will get it in the morning. If not, be sure and call your bank and find out if the deposit really did come in or not. They may have just needed more time to post it if it came in late in the day on Friday.
Reply:I was also supposed to get mine on the 16th but I haven't yet. I have been on the phone with the IRS all morning and can't get through to a live person, check the IRS website again - it'll tell you if the funds have been deposited yet or not. My status doesn't say that they have been deposited yet - it still says I should receive by the 20th. I jope you have better luck then I do. I have heard several things about the IRS being behind this year in their processing so hopefully we will have them no later then this Friday. Best of luck to you!

How do i start making a myspace account that features layouts, and graphics?
I'm not really sure what you're trying to ask, but if you're asking how to like, link a button to a specific place, then here is the code.

%26lt;a href="URL OF SIGHT YOU WANT LINKED" target="_blank"%26gt; %26lt;img src="URL OF IMAGE" width="###" height="###" alt="TITLE" /%26gt; %26lt;/a%26gt;
Reply:i don't quite get what you are asking, but I can answer one part; "how do people even make the everything page? is it all in one blog?"..If I'm comprehending it right. What they do is use a link maker or the following code: %26lt;A HREF="URL"%26gt;CLICKHERE%26lt;/A%26gt;. Where it says "URL" they go to the page that PREVIEWS ALL of their blogs; you can do this by going to a blog then clicking "back" above the picture. Then they copy the URL from the page and put it in the code. Then where it says "Click here" they simply put something like "Click for everything!" Or soemthing like that. :)

Hope this helps!

How do we set up a joint account that we all can contribute to in order to pay for a group trip?

I am planning a group trip for 14 friends and we would like to have money deducted from our accounts on a weekly basis to pay for the trip. Most banks do not allow this type of transaction for so many participants. Does anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone managed to do this?
How do we set up a joint account that we all can contribute to in order to pay for a group trip?
You're right that most banks don't want to do this for so many people. You could each open up something like a "Christmas club" account. You could each then have that money deducted each month and at the end of the term take the money and combine it. Just make sure that, if you'll need the money in less than a year, you will have no penalty for not completing it and that you can withdrawl it when you need it.

For that matter, you could just step up a couple different savings accounts and put 4 or 5 people on each one. I would also suggest you set it up that you need 2 or 3 signatures for any withdrawl, just as protection.

You can get a Coverdell Education Savings Account for tax free education gains for your kids also. I use Scottrade for that, and now my kids have lots of money for college.

I started my their Coverdell ERA with just $20 and just put a little in each week. It adds up fast. I have them invested in mutual funds such as UMREX which has been gaining about 20% per year. That is a real estate fund with no loads and no transaction fees at Scottrade.
Reply:A standard bank savings account will not net very much interest. Look into CDs. The rates are averaging around 5+/-%. That isn't bad for guaranteed secure money.
Reply:Right now, the best kind of savings account is an online savings account. Some banks are starting to offer them and the interest rate is great! At my bank (HSBC), the interest rate never drops lower than 5%. Way better than a standard savings account, and you don't need a minimum balance to open one up like how you would for a CD.

How do I send pictures from one account on my computer to another?

I tried to share the files, but I don't know how to view them on the other account. Emailing them is hard too, I tried it. Didn't work.

Please help, anything at all would be great.
How do I send pictures from one account on my computer to another?
You can upload them to a free internet file server such as:

www.ifile.it

Then download from the other computer and finally erase the uploaded file if you want to (just remember to copy the 'delete' site when you upload)
Reply:My Computer -%26gt; C:/ -%26gt; Users -%26gt; Select User -%26gt; Select Location, such as desktop, documents, etc. -%26gt; with that folder active, and the pic files in view, hold left click and simply drag.

That's assuming you have administrative permissions.

If you simply want to copy the pictures instead of move them, instead of holding left click, you right click and select "Copy", and then go to that folder, right click on an empty space and select "Paste".
Reply:Email is the easiest way. Otherwise u can use an online uploader i can quick think of http://fileupyours.com and use the url then as you wish

What's the difference between putting your money in a savings account versus a checking account?

It doesn't seem like a savings account generates much interest.
What's the difference between putting your money in a savings account versus a checking account?
It may not generate much interest but the savings account does have interest and the checking usually does not. The interest is the basic difference. Also, putting money in a checking account usually allows for more fluidity. That is, you have greater access to the cash than you would in a savings account. Since the money stays in the savings account longer, the bank gives interest. The checking account is used for paying items, and the money in the account will fluctuate greatly, and so, the bank doesn't pay interest, usually.

They also used to charge for checking, but it has become the custom to offer free checking nowadays. A lot of banks consider these very small interest-free loans to the bank. So, a lot of these checking accounts allow for banks to have greater sums of money available for loans to customers.

Anyway, savings accounts pay more in interest than checking or money market accounts, but pay less than CDs, which locks your money in for a certain period of time.

If you want safe investment and one that allows you to access the cash, get a savings account. If you want more return with greater risk, and some access to your cash, get stocks or bonds.
Reply:check out ingdirect, emigrantdirect, or hsbcdirect. these online savings accounts are the usually the best option for a decent interest rate and liquidity.
Reply:it generates more then a checking. If you have a higher amount there are also money market accounts and CDs that payout a higher interest rate.
Reply:AND IN A CHECKING ACCT,YOU JUST WRITE CHECKS OR USE YOUR CHECK CARD ,,,SO YOU SAVE NO MONEY.
Reply:to me it's easier to spend my money if it's in a checking account v/s a savings account due to the fact of checks and debit cards. also even though it's not much you get some interest in a savings. i've heard of certain checking accounts getting interest but i bet it's even less then savings accounts.
Reply:You can chose an account with a higher interest rate. Try INGdirect.com.

Plus having a savings account separate from my checking keeps me from dipping - my bank made it easy for me to dip into my savings account by adding an automatic transfer so I didn't have to bother. I couldn't save a dime that way.
Reply:With your checking acct. you don't gain intrest. With your savings acct you do. But let me make a reccomendation. You should put your money into a CD. Most banks will make you put in 250 dollars, but it gains better interest than your savings acct, AND you always have the chance to make it grow better. That's what I've done. I still do have a little savings acct, but my money goes into a CD and I put approx 50 a month into my savings and 150-200 into my CD and its growing quite nicely. Talk to your local bank
Reply:It might feel like most of the answers are going to be the same. But its true, putting your money in a checking account is much different then putting it into a savings account.

With a savings account you get to earn interest.

Plus its not in the same account where you can access your funds at anytime you wish to (checks, debit cards, etc)

If you want to take in one step further, putting your money in a e-savings account insures that you will think very hard before spending that cash because it usually take 3 days to get that money out.

There are many high-yield savings accounts out there that will give you a very high interest rate. Like:

Ing.com and Emirgrantdirect.com

What should I do if my checking account gets frozen because of a court judgement?

I need some advice. I have an old credit card in default. I've been searching the court records database and I see I have a possible judgment pending. I know there could eventually be wage garnishment, but my main concern is the possibility of having my bank accounts frozen. I want to prepare myself for this happening.

Is a money market account safe? What about Paypal, can that be frozen? What about savings and IRAs?

I've read horror stories about people being left high and dry with no access to money. Besides keeping it in a shoe box, I was wondering where else it would be safe. This way I could continue to pay bills online, etc.

If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know. FYI, I've tried negotiating with the creditor with no resolve, I waited too long. I've never been served, but from what I understand that really doesn't matter, they can still issue a default judgment.

Thanks in advance.
What should I do if my checking account gets frozen because of a court judgement?
Yes they can issue a default judgement; but why not contact the court in question and try and get a handle on it there?

Also check with the court clerk and see if they can even freeze a checking account in your state; it's not possible everywhere.
Reply:Dude: Garnishment from creditors on an unsecured loan (credit cards) does not happen on this side of reality. Stop worrying. Contact the credit card company and tell them that you can't pay and would like a settlement amount. Chances are that they will work with you on this and offer you to settle for $.50 on the dollar, but you must be prepared to pay up within thirty days. Aside from that, you need to be financially responsible or your life will be a horror movie, capice? REAL MEN LIVE DEBT FREE!

That, bro, is the long and short of it.

Mr. M. on "judgment."
Reply:Contact a lawyer. Unfortunately, they probably can freeze your acount. And murphy's law dictates that it will happen at the worst possible time.

Sorry.
Reply:yes, I hired a lawyer, the creditor never showed up in Court, so I got all my money back and the bank reversed the overdraft charges.

Then they placed a Judgement, they can't file a Judgement

without proving you owe the debt. www.creditinfocenter.com

so I sued them back and won. Consult with a Consumer Law Attorney.

What do you do when your bank account has been frozen by a collector?

My friends credit card was declined during dinner and she called the bank and they told her a lawyer in another state froze her account. The bank does not know who the creditor is, only the lawyer. It has been a week and the laywer has not returned any calls and his the phone number provided is a cell phone. We are talkin over $5k frozen. She swears she owes no one, has perfect credit, just received a recent copy of her credit report and everything. Could it be possible identity theft? I've done searches trying to find this lawyer, a address or something and cannot find anything, the bank cannot either. Help me, help my friend.
What do you do when your bank account has been frozen by a collector?
A lawyer can not freeze her account. The lawyer would have had to go through several steps. The first is they would have had to file a suit aginst her in a court. They then would have had to get an order to freeze her bank accounts.

So either the bank is in error(possible), or she is not telling you the entire story(more likely).
Reply:Never heard of such a thing. I think your Friend is pulling your leg.
Reply:If in fact your friend is telling the truth, she should contact an attorney to get to the bottom of this. It could be an error -- someone input a bad number.

The bank should have some kind of document to show her.
Reply:To have done this someone would had to have taken your friend to court and get a judgment and a court order.

All of this should be public record and the bank would know who did it. Sounds like your friend is stretching the truth.
Reply:if you are for real she needs to contact her bank and the police to find out who has put the hold on her account. it takes a court order to do such a thing.

How do you adjust stellar magnitudes to account for elevation?

I know the atmospheric extinction from 1 airmass of clean air is 0.33 magnitude. I already know how to convert elevation to airmasses.

How do I get the magnitude correction to add from the number of airmasses?
How do you adjust stellar magnitudes to account for elevation?
You have to remember that both extinction and magnitudes work in logarithmic scale; therefore loss of magnitudes is simply proportional with the number of air masses:

I = I_0 * 10^(-n k), wiht k the extinction due to one air mass;

delta_m = 2.5 lg(I/I_0)

For n=1, you get the magnitude loss for one air mass; you can figure the rest.
Reply:Elevation is adjusted out.

How long should I keep quarterly investment account statements if I don't receive an annual statement?

My internet research tells me to shred monthly and quarterly statements after I've reconciled them with my year-end statement but my financial institution doesn't send year-end statements. Should I keep the quarterlies? If so, for how many years back?
How long should I keep quarterly investment account statements if I don't receive an annual statement?
Keep the statements where you purchased stock until 7 years after you file your taxes for the year that you finally sell it. You will need to know how much you paid for the stock for your tax return for the year you sell it, and then keep it for 7 years after that.
Reply:no over 12 months!!!
Reply:You should keep the quarterly statements as long as you would keep the annual statements.
Reply:The rule of thumb is to keep all important documents for 5 years. If you have a scanner, scan the documents into your computer and save them forever.

Whats the danger of opening a personal account and using is specifically for your business related purposes?

I want to use an online bank for my business but it only allows you to open personal accounts. Is it legal to use a personal account specifically for businesses purposes and what troubles could I run into down the line.
Whats the danger of opening a personal account and using is specifically for your business related purposes?
If you are serious about running a buisness, then take a few extra steps and open a business account. This will help you seperate business and personal costs. If you have an issue with the IRS down the line (small business are auditing a lot), you are better of doing business in your business acocunts.

What is the time that a closed account can stay on your credit report?

It says that it will be on there until 2016, I thought that it could only stay on there for seven years. This is an account that I closed is paid in full and was never late. Why will it be on there for so long?
What is the time that a closed account can stay on your credit report?
In reality, a credit issue can stay on your report as long as the credit bureau wants to keep it on there.

When the "seven year" policy was put into place it was just because the cost of storing the information was high (disk drives used to be pretty expensive.) The credit bureaus devised a limit (seven years) that balanced the needs of their constituents (the guys lending money) and their hard drive space. The result was the seven years you are familiar with. There is no law that requires that--it is just an industry standard practice.

With the advent of really inexpensive data storage (cheap hard drives) the cost for keeping the data is going down. If a seven-year history was good, a ten-year history would be better.

Some lenders are asking the credit bureaus to "dig deeper" into their potential customer's (the borrowers) past. They will.

Why should your bad credit not follow you? It goes to the matter of integrity. People that are honest, pay their bills. People that are dishonest don't.

But, people can change, and with time, you can improve your credit score by learning to have more integrity. We wise up as we get older (usually.) That is taken into account on your credit score.

So, right now, the standard is seven years. It is creeping towards ten years (as you are seeing--they are flat-out telling you that!) In five more years, this may move off to be a twenty-year credit history that they keep.

The credit bureaus will keep the information just as long as it is useful to their clients, and justifies the cost.
Reply:It's only 7 years for negative credits

10 years for bancruptcy

You can contest anything on your account - they have to reiterate- and only have 10 days to do so. Some companies are too busy to respond, and this can help clear credit easily.
Reply:Some stay for 10 years; if it's closed and not negative, it shouldn't be an issue.
Reply:only negative information stays for up to 10 years. This is a penalty. If it is positive, it can only help you in the long run. Therefore it provides more opportunity to the creditors to offer even more credit you probably don't need which is why it stays.
Reply:I guess I just don't understand what the problem is here. If the accounts were paid as agreed and you were never late, why would you want them no to show?

The more good credit lines that show on your credit the better.
Reply:They can stay on 7-10 years. Just because it says that's when it will come off doesn't mean it will, it may just drop off at some point.
Reply:everyone here is right about 7 to 10 years. If it is a negative you can have it removed by contacting your creditors and having them send a letter stating the matter is resolved and it is no longer an issue. I had to do it once myself.

I need a way to explain current account deficits and its relation to the devaluation of the dollar?

Please help. I know what it is and how it works, but I am not talented enough to put it into words.
I need a way to explain current account deficits and its relation to the devaluation of the dollar?
A current account DEFICIT means that the US imports more goods and services than it exports. Now US entities generally pay US dollars for those imports, so that means foreign companies are receiving US dollars in trade -- in other words, the US is spitting out a bunch of dollars to the outside world. This increases the SUPPLY of US dollars in the hands of foreigners outside of the US.

Now the value of the US dollar on the currency exchanges is always based on supply and demand for the dollar. Price is set by supply and demand, and that applies here also.

Put those two facts together, and what you have is the supply of US dollars among foreigners (resulting from US buying imports) has been rising faster than their demand for dollars, causing the price of the dollar to fall as they trade in their dollars for their own currency or some other country's currency. It's that simple.

Keep in mind it's not just supply -- it's also demand. Lots of things affect the level of demand at any time. Foreigners would need dollars to buy US exports, or buy US stocks or bonds or other assets -- that's where much of the demand comes from. So lately, demand has been relatively lowered for several reasons: lower interest rates in the US make some US bonds less competitive; people afraid of the housing problems and credit crunch may sell their US stocks or avoid US investments, etc.

The current account deficit getting a little too big only contributes to the "supply" side of supply %26amp; demand, but as such is half responsible for the dollar weakness.
Reply:The current acount deficit means the U.S. buys more goods from abroad than they buy from us. This requires U.S. firms to acquire foreign currencies to purchase those goods. The U.S. supplies dollars to the world and demands other currencies. When supply increases relative to demand the price (in this case, exchange rate) will fall.
Reply:Because the value of the dollar is depreciating, it takes more dollars to pay off foreign debt.

How do I access my Xbox live account from a different location?
I have not tried this yet so someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe all you need is a memory card. Save your account on the memory card and then bring it to your cousins and connect it to his/her 360.

Depending on what you want to do, you also have more access to your account on Xbox.com. More so now with the NXE out.

Hope this helped.

Is it better to put your savings into a mortgage offset account or in a high interest savings account?

Does anyone know of any online calculators that allow you to work out how much time/money is saved on a mortgage by using an offset account.
Is it better to put your savings into a mortgage offset account or in a high interest savings account?
I found a calculator for St George Bank: ww.stgeorge.com.au/calculators under the home loan section. You need MS Excel to use it.
Reply:Never heard of a mortgage offset account. It can be better to pay off a mortgage than carry it if you can't itemize on your tax return.

You can set an account up at the bank and have them withdraw 1/4 of your monthly payment every week. This has the effect of paying an extra month's mortgage payment a year, and reduces your interest carrying costs.

If you have excess money, I'd find a good mutual fund to put it into. I would suggest the Vanguard family. They are the low cost leaders and generally perform upper half of all performing funds.

It does no use to chase a hot fund. My experience, that by the time the fund it hot, it is too late to get in.

Yahoo itself has many investment calculators.

http://www.finance.yahoo.com I believe is the web address.

What is the best type of savings account for long term savings?
If you planning to buy in the next 7 years, put it in a money market account. Check out www.bankrate.com for the best current rates and min deposits. If you think it will be longer than 7 years, go with mutual funds. They are too volatile for short term but have a great track record long term.
Reply:If you definitely want to limit the account to only a savings account, online accounts such as Emigrant are currently paying about 5% which is several times what a regular bank savings account will earn.
Reply:Savings account is itself a game of information.

You know there are so many types of savings accounts, and with thier own terms and benefits.

Reply:Create a website through Geocities, then go to Paypal and paste the info for setting up a donations account there and send the site url everywhere.
Reply:I wrote an article on the subject that should help you out with this.
Reply:You need to go to a local bank and setup an account- tell them what you're trying to do. You might need power of attorney- not sure about that. You then setup a web page with a pay-pal account. The donations form the paypal account are linked to the bank account you setup when you setup the paypal account. The family you're trying to help should also have access to that account and can usethe money whenever they want. Or, even easier, setup a paypal account using the existing family's account information and that saves many steps.
Reply:Just go to the bank and explain your situation. A good bank will know exactly what to do. If they hesitate or balk, leave, go to another (and tell everyone how you were treated...good or bad). Ask for a waiver of fees.

How do i transfer programs from one account to another on a mac?
There are two Applications folders for programs in OS X. Putting programs in the main applications folder (the one you usually see in the left hand column in finder) will enable every account user to access that program. Each user account also has its own applications folder for programs specific to that user. Any programs dropped into the users applications folder cannot be accessed by other users unless the Admin account specifically gives them priviledges to do so.
Reply:Make sure your installed applications are in the Applications folder. If they are, they'll be accessible on other accounts.

If I choose to open a saving account with a different company than my checking, does that affect FICO score?

I'm looking to open a money market saving account. I have a checking account with Chase and am contemplating opening a saving account with a different institution because the interest rate would be nearly 4 points higher than with Chase. I'm mainly concerned whether this has any effect on credit score. I know that having multiple credit cards has a negative effect on your credit rating, and wonder if having multiple savings/checking accounts with numerous banks has a similar effect. Thank you!
If I choose to open a saving account with a different company than my checking, does that affect FICO score?
The credit reporting agencies make random guesses for credit score

The credit reporting agencies do not arbitrarily decide on your credit score. In fact every loan, mortgage or credit card you take is closely monitored by the financial institution that provides it. The way you tackle your debt, repayment and interest rates is tracked by the company and sent to the credit rating agencies to calculate your credit score. The software used to calculate your credit score is FICO (Fair Issacs Corporation) after the people who designed it. It is a fairly complicated piece of software that decides on your credit score based on established parameters.

The credit reporting agencies are biased

No, not at all. No consideration whatsoever is given to factors like race, gender, nationality, marital status, or religion. It is your finances that matter. The feedback received by credit rating agencies from your banks, lenders etc. are the only things that matter. The idea is to establish your credit trustworthiness.

I have to pay heavy fees to credit reporting agencies to get my credit report

This is grossly untrue as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) makes it mandatory for each of the credit reporting agencies to send a free copy of your credit report on your request each year. So, you can have a copy of your credit report absolutely free of cost once a year. If you require more than that you have to pay a small fee to the respective credit reporting agency. In fact, it is advised that you regularly check your credit report. It is indeed one of the best financial practices. Read more from: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/artic...
Reply:This really depends on what savings bank you use. For instance I just opened an online savings account with citibank, the account is ultimate saver. When I checked my FICO I see citibank has made a "hard inquiry". The savings account is all I have with them. My score has dropped a few points because of this.
Reply:No, opening saving and checking accounts does not affect you credit score. In fact you have beaten the interest monster that is knowing the diffrence between good credit and bad. As I say those who know about intrest get paid those who dont will pay. :)
Reply:No, you can have as many savings and checking accounts as you want. FICO scores reflect how many credit cards and credit accounts you have- if you have "too" many, that lowers your score.
Reply:No, not at all. It's done all the time. I would like to know which money market is 4 points higher! Good for you.
