How do you reclaim a seized savings account?

I recently went to withdraw the money in my savings account, and found out that it had been seized by the state. How/What do i need to do to get it back? Is there some form to fill out of something?
How do you reclaim a seized savings account?
Depends upon WHY is was seized. If you owed back taxes, child support or other court ordered payment and you failed to pay, you won't get it back.

You may not have received any legal documents in advance of the seizure (prevents you from draining your account). You should have received something after the seizure explaining the situation (who ordered the seizure, what was seized, when it was seized, why it was seized, etc).

Contact the bank to see if they have any information. The should be able to tell you what state agency ordered the seizure. I'm surprised the state didn't seize your checking account, too. You can't blame the bank. They were under a court order and you aren't important enough to them for the bank to violate that order.
Reply:Some time ago you should have seen some legal papers coming in the mail... maybe it was from a credit card co. that you still owed money to but never paid or even the State themselves letting you know that they are going after your real property for owing anything from taxes to child support...

Well... most people simply don't realize that savings and checking accounts are "real property" and can be seized.

The money is gone and unless you are actively in the middle of a Bankruptcy and the account was seized by a creditor other than the state, there is no recourse.
Reply:Pretty much you're screwed. You can tlak to a lawyer but if the state has dropped all charges then you're never getting you money back. It's called asset seizure and they can do it for any reason. All they have to do is THINK you're breaking the law. Sorry.
Reply:If you owe taxes to Uncle Sam, or child support I beleive they have it. Call the bank where you had this savings account and ask them all the questions and telephone numbers, ( make notes) and find out why.
