What details need to be taken into account when fitting an AC adapter to a device?

The device asks for "DC IN 12V 1A."

Can I plug any AC adapter that reads "Output: 12V 1A" into this device?

I would love to see a link to some site which verifies your answer so I don't fry my electronics. :)

It has to output 12v DC (the DC is important - NOT AC)

As long as it outputs 1A or MORE, any adapter is OK

Ex

12V DC, 2A - OK

12V AC , 1A - NOT OK
Reply:You need to be concerned with polarity (tip positive or tip negative), and make sure it's 12v DC 1A(or more) output, but other than that, you should be ok
