How much money is in your checking account right now?

I know this is a nosy question, and NO I am not interested in stealing it from you people even if I knew how, which I don't. I am just curious how high you let the balance get before you transfer some to savings, assuming of course that you have a savings account. Please feel free to round to the nearest even sum. Mine is about $2,500 dollars at the moment but I have many bills to pay soon.
How much money is in your checking account right now?
i got about 30k. i'd strut around acting like Thornton Mellon, except i have huge expenses that have to be paid such as house repairs my HOA is bitching about, the gas-saving car i "gave" my girlfriend for xmas but still haven't bought, and paying for a vacation coming up in august. oh there is also solarizing my house -- that alone is at least 20k. fuggit
Reply:Totally depends on your expenditure. Its ok to have about 10k in checking and put rest in savings. When savings reaches about 100k+, take some out and put other places (its not really a good investment to put more than 100k in savings)

Reply:I have an Orange savings account for which is extracted from my checking account - I tell them how much to extract and how often - once a month, twice a month, etc.





Your question is quite general - some will be able to save immediately, others will have to wait - I just don't understand why you asked such a question - is there a point to this?

the more you make the more you spend...unless ur nutzo from the vet era and have the same car from just outta hs in '53. we don't live with savings accounts and neither did our parents and neither are our children..yet...and hopefully...gawd hopefully we can teach what stock holds and cds and money instead of emergency is .....i donno how, but maybe we can do it...why..i donno, we live for now, we are now...but maybe we can instill the hearst castle value in our children...make it, keep it, earn it, make it grow and spend it while you can..but make it grow is the most important thing...really, in my spendable at all times i have 5k...but that is spendable..who cares...it's how we live..to the extent...good question!savings...x..we have one..it goes up up up and down....down...wait for it...down..it's like a kid on a swing...i own lotsa property in ca...and several cars...and a couple dogs..and a stupid rabbit....and some painting crap..does that count? i don't think so...but, i'm happy, i love my family and i spend thrift-ly on things i need ... now...if you have an answer on how to SAVE money, please, let me know!!!

Reply:i just leave what is enough for all ougoings in the next two weeks, and a bit extra should I need to go to get some cash. Other than that put it all on savings, so you don't lose out on the extra interest. even an interest of $1 a week more on savings account, does add up to $52 a year...!!! That is another small bill paid! Get the money yourself instead of letting the ank enjoy it. I have just under 500 on my checking account!
